Mt Eden Villa Renovation
Project brief: Full interior renovation of a 1910 Mt Eden villa
This Mt Eden villa, built in 1910, is a strong example of the era — generous proportions, original detailing, and heritage character worth keeping. The structural interior was retained in full, with the renovation focused entirely on bringing every interior space up to the standard the home deserved.
The scope covered the kitchen, bathrooms, living areas and fireplace, flooring, and painting throughout.
Design approach
The guiding principle was restraint. Bolection moulding was reintroduced through the interior to bridge the home's original period detailing with a contemporary finish — present enough to feel intentional, subtle enough to feel natural.
A consistent material palette was developed to carry colour, texture, and tone across all spaces, giving the home a cohesive visual language from room to room.
The result
The home was furnished with quality pieces drawn from varying eras — the kind of interior that feels collected rather than decorated. The outcome is a home that sits comfortably in its own history while functioning entirely for how people live today.
