New Builds, Personally Delivered
Building a new home is one of the most significant investments you will ever make. At Yourtradie, we specialise in residential new builds across Auckland — acting as your head contractor and taking full responsibility for delivery from the earliest feasibility conversation right through to final handover and Code Compliance Certificate. One point of contact. No surprises.
We are a boutique service. We deliberately take on a limited number of new build projects each year — selected for their ambition, location, and fit with our team. This is not a volume operation. Every project we accept gets our personal involvement and the full focus of our trade network from day one.
We work exclusively on residential new builds across Central Auckland, including Ponsonby, Mt Eden, Herne Bay, Grey Lynn, Freemans Bay, Westmere, Parnell, Remuera, and surrounding suburbs.
What Does a Head Contractor Do on a Residential New Build?
Many homeowners assume they need to manage their own build — coordinating architects, engineers, builders, plumbers, electricians, and council requirements themselves. The reality is that without a single accountable party, projects run over time, over budget, and into disputes between trades.
As your head contractor, Yourtradie takes full legal and practical responsibility for your entire build. We supply every trade, manage every subcontractor, own the programme, and hold the consent. You deal with one person. We handle everything else.
This is not project management at arm's length — we are in the contract, on the site, and accountable for the outcome.
Start at Feasibility — Before the Architect Draws a Line
The most expensive mistakes in a new build happen before construction even begins — when a design is drawn without regard for buildability, trade costs, or consent complexity. Engaging Yourtradie at feasibility stage protects you from these risks.
We work alongside your architect (or help you find the right one) before documentation begins. At feasibility we provide:
- Early cost guidance — indicative build budgets based on your site, programme, and brief
- Site assessment — identifying constraints that will affect design, consent, and cost
- Consent pathway advice — understanding whether your project requires resource consent, building consent, or both, and what that process looks like
- Programme planning — realistic timeframes from design through to CCC
- Trade coordination planning — identifying any specialist requirements early
Getting Yourtradie involved at feasibility stage means your architect designs to a build that is deliverable, consented, and within budget from the outset. It is the single most effective way to protect your investment.

04.
Premium Trade Network
Every subcontractor we use is vetted, proven, and part of our established network. These are tradespeople we trust with our own reputation — selected for quality, reliability, and their ability to deliver to a premium standard.
06.
A Boutique Service — Not a Volume Builder
We are not a large construction company optimising for throughput. Yourtradie deliberately limits the number of new build projects we take on each year. That means when you engage us, you are not one of fifty jobs on a programme — you are one of a small number of clients receiving our direct involvement, our best subcontractors, and our complete attention. We are selective about the projects we take on because our reputation depends on every single one.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a head contractor and why do I need one?
A head contractor takes full legal responsibility for delivering your build. Rather than managing multiple separate trade contracts yourself, you have one accountable party who supplies all trades, holds the consent, runs the programme, and delivers the completed home. For a premium new build, this is the professional and practical standard — not an optional extra.
Do I need an architect before contacting Yourtradie?
No — and in fact, we recommend contacting us first. Engaging Yourtradie at feasibility stage means your architect designs to a build that is consented, buildable, and within your actual budget from the start. We can also refer you to architectural practices we have worked with successfully on similar projects.
How long does the consent process take in Auckland?
Auckland Council statutory timeframes for building consent are 20 working days once the application is accepted as complete. In practice, processing times vary and RFIs (requests for further information) can extend this. Our experience in preparing thorough, council-ready documentation significantly reduces the risk of delays.
What types of new builds do you take on?
We focus exclusively on residential new builds in Auckland — architecturally designed homes in Central Auckland where quality, finish, and attention to detail are non-negotiable. We do not take on volume or entry-level builds.
How do you price a new build?
Every project is priced individually based on the design, specification, site conditions, and programme. We provide a fixed-cost head contract with a clearly defined scope — so you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before work begins. Contact us to start the conversation.
How many projects do you take on at once?
By design, not many. We deliberately limit the number of new build projects we run at any one time so that every client receives the attention their project deserves. Our team is personally involved on every job — that only works if the number of active projects is carefully managed. If you are planning a build, we recommend getting in touch early to discuss availability.
Start the Conversation
We take on a limited number of new build projects each year. If you are planning a residential new build in Auckland, we would love to hear about it — the earlier you get in touch, the more value we can add.
Whether you have a site and a detailed brief, or you are still working through the early thinking, we are happy to have a no-obligation conversation about your project and whether we are the right fit for each other.
